On 5 September 2026, Phoenix TV’s “X+” aired a special programme, Deep-Sea Solutions: How Underwater Robots Clean Ships, documenting Neptune Robotics’ efforts to break through the shipping industry’s marine biofouling challenge with underwater robots.
Between 2019 and 2020, Neptune Team conducted more than 700 sea trials. Through an independently developed vision system and AI models, Neptune Robotics’ robots have achieved autonomous underwater navigation along the 3D curved surfaces of vessel hulls. Combined with cavitational waterjet technology, the robots perform intelligent cleaning operations while maximizing protection for antifouling coatings – allowing large vessels to be cleaned without damaging their paint.
Neptune Robotics now conducts regular operations across 61 ports in China and Singapore, with more than 3,500 vessel cleanings completed to date. Its client network covers the world’s top 30 shipowners and charterers. From single-vessel pilot projects to long-term, fleet-wide contracts, Neptune Robotics has become a trusted partner to leading global shipping companies for hull cleaning and biofouling management solutions.
